Modernization of optical electronic sighting complex of MiG-29 aircraft

State Enterprise of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine “Lviv State Aircraft Repair Plant “LSARP” performs:

Modernization of optical electronic sighting complex of MiG-29 aircraft

The following system of the optical electronic sighting navigation complex includes modernized:

  • weaponry control system;
  • navigation system;
  • indication system;
  • optical electronic sighting system.

The purpose of modernization is:

  • increasing of the combat capabilities of an aircraft under carrying out the mission of striking the ground and above-water targets by equipping an aircraft with guided aviation means of destruction of “air-surface” type with TV heads of homing guidance (X-29T, KAB-500 KR);
  • improvement of the complex performance characteristics by incorporating satellite navigation system and upgrading of optical-electronic system;
  • increasing of efficiency of the pilots` actions by introduction the navigation mode with displaying terrain digital maps and sighting information on multifunctional indicator.

Weaponry control system includes:

  • control unit of rockets (bombs) releasing;
  • control panel of TV system (PU-TC) for activating the TV system of rockets (bombs) guidance.

The pilot performs acquisition, recognition and lock-in of the target by data on MFI where the television pictures coming from TV homing heads of rockets and bombs are being displayed.

Control of using aviation destructive means, warning about weaponry on the points of suspension, the rockets (bombs) releasing are executed by regular control and warning units which are placed on throttle and control stick, panel PSR-31.

Onboard videorecorder allows to execute the objective control of pilots` actions, acquisition, recognition and lock-in of the ground targets as well as the recording of complete data during the flight.

Navigation and indicating system includes:

  • multi-function indicator-computer (ÌFI-V);
  • hardware of satellite navigation system (SNS);
  • system of flight missions entry.

Following units were replaced in quantum optical location system:

  • product “25 F” by solid laser without liquid cooling;
  • receiving and electronic block.

Single board computer for processing of the location data is introduced.
