State Enterprise of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Lviv State Aircraft Repair Plant “LSARP”

On the 15th of October 1939, in Lviv, on the basis of former hangars of the 6th Repair base of AFF Rech Pospolita the aircraft workshops called “133 Stationary Aircraft Workshops (SAW)” were established to carry out the restoration repairs of the aircraft operated in the Western region of the Soviet Union.

During the Second World War “133 SAW” have overhauled and transferred 1287 aircraft of different types, 2820 aircraft engines, the large quantity of devices, aviation armament, radio and special equipment to front. In the period from 1944 till 1945 the Plant`s staff had assembled 800 new combat airplanes IL-10 using the component parts received from Aircraft Plants and delivered aircraft to the front-line forces. In September 1946 “133 Stationary Aviation Workshops” (SAW) were renamed into “272 Aviation Repair base” (ARB). On the 15th of May 1947 “272 ARB” was renamed into “352 ARB”.

In 1953 the first stage of Plant`s activity - the overhaul of the first generation aircraft (piston engine aviation) - was over. The repair of 16 types of aircraft had been mastered. On the October the 1st, 1953, 352 ARB got the status of Aviation Repairing Plant. Since 1953 the Era of jet aircraft repair has started. The specialization of the Plant - light front fighters, fighter - bombers of Mikoyan Design Office - has been defined. The first jet plane repaired at the Plant was MiG -15. From 1953 till 1979 the Plant had been repairing the second generation aircraft - fighters MiG-15, MiG-17, MiG-21 of all versions. The Plant was engaged in the re-equipment of the aircraft MiG-17, MiG-21 into radio-guided aircraft - targets M-21, M-17 PF, M-17M, M-17 MM. Since 1979 the Plant has started repairing the airplanes of the third generation - MiG-23, MiG-27 of all versions. In the period from 1983 till 1989 aircraft MiG-27 has been re-equipped into MiG-27D. In 1989 ten thousand jet aircraft were being overhauled.
In 1992 the Plant started to master the repair of the fourth generation aircraft - MiG - 29 of all versions.

Now “LSARP” is the leading enterprise specializing in repair of the aviation techniques of military purpose. The specialization of the Plant is light front fighters, fighter-bombers of “MiG” type. Up to present time the Plant has mastered the overhaul of the aircraft MiG - 21, MiG - 23, MiG - 27 of all versions and MiG – 29. The well-developed production base and capable professional staff allow to carry out the high-quality repair of the above-mentioned types of aircraft. The main types of aircraft of the repairing enterprise are MiG - 29 and MiG - 29 UB are recognized the best light front fighters in the world.

Major overhaul of aircraft MiG - 21, MiG - 23, MiG - 27 and MiG - 29 with the restoration of service life is carried out to full extent. Fitting out of the enterprise with up-to-date equipment and technical documentation, highly qualified personnel, long-term experience provide the top level of aviation engineering repairs as well as operation reliability.

At the Plant the repairs of the airframe systems aggregates, aviation armament, radio-electronic, instrument and electric equipment, electronic automatic systems, devices and operational control systems are conducted in strict accordance with the requirements of Mikoyan Design Bureau technical documentation.

The successful activity of the enterprise is possible due to the contribution of the capable professional engineers and technicians as well as to the close
cooperation with the developers and producers of aviation techniques, research and development centres and other agencies. The high quality repairs of the aviation techniques is the principal Plant`s obligation to the Customer. It is assured by Quality Management System in force meeting the requirements of the International Standard ISO 9002, and confirmed by the Ñertificate of Ñonformity ¹ 60413 issued by the International Company “Bureau Veritas”.

The Plant`s staff clearly realizes the future prospects. At present it is necessary to mark the following directions of future prospects:

• repairs of aircraft MiG - 29 as per technical state;
• modernization of aircraft MiG - 29;
• technical re-equipment of the Plant to increase the range of activities fulfilled in the repairing process and to reduce the percentage of activities in the cooperation with other plants.

”LSARP” offers the following services on the mutually beneficial conditions for the Customer:

• repairs of the aircraft MiG - 21, MiG - 23, MiG - 27 and MiG - 29, their aggregates and equipment, including the works on renovation of overhaul service life and life time;
• repairs aggregates and airframe systems;
• development and delivery of designing documents for the mastering of the repairs of aggregates and airframe systems;
• training of the Customer`s specialists in the technological processes of aviation equipment repairs, consulting in the repairs of aviation techniques using the Plants production base;
• the expert advice and research work at the Customers` enterprises to elaborate necessary recommendations during the process of new types aviation techniques mastering;
• specialists` visits to the Customers` enterprises for technical assistance in the mastering of new types aviation techniques repairs;
• producing and delivering of the non-standard technological equipment developed for aviation techniques repairs by Plants specialists;
• examination of Customers` aviation techniques state to determine capability of repairs;
• renting of the required technological equipment for Customer`s aviation hardware repairs;
• assistance in adjusting the technological equipment (produced in the former USSR) in accordance with Customer technical requirements;
• assistance in acquisition of spare parts and stuff required for the aviation techniques repairs;
• consulting services in establishing contacts with the producers of aviation techniques and repairing agencies;
• services in designing and developing of maintenance site of “MiG” type aircraft engineering.
